Young bicyclist dies after auto accident in Minn.

An 11-year-old bicyclist died Friday, after being hit on Monday by a pickup truck driven by a man who is charged with drunken driving.

The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office says Nicholas Hagadorn of Shakopee died about 2 a.m. Friday at Hennepin County Medical Center. He was hit Monday evening.

Forty-year-old Randal Hennes of Prior Lake is charged with driving while intoxicated another related charges.

Police say Hagadorn was riding his bicycle at about 8:30 p.m. Monday in Shakopee when he was struck during a downpour.

The complaint says a Shakopee police officer saw a pickup drive away from the scene, make a U-turn, then head back south without stopping to help the bicyclist.

Hennes was stopped about six miles from the accident scene. The complaint says he was given a sobriety test and failed it but said he had only had one drink that night.
