Stillwater Lift Bridge to close for repairs

The Stillwater Lift Bridge closes today for repairs.

The historic bridge over the St. Croix (kroy) River was damaged last week when a lumber delivery truck got stuck on it.

Starting at 9 o’clock this morning, the bridge will close to traffic 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will reopen temporarily at 5 a.m. next Wednesday for Stillwater’s annual Lumberjack Days.

Beginning early Monday, July 28, the bridge again will be closed until repairs are completed in early August.

During the closures, traffic will be detoured south to the Interstate 94 bridge at Hudson, Wisconsin.

The bridge’s lift span will remain operational during repairs so boats can pass underneath.
