Judge rejects plea deal in Wahpeton shooting

A judge has rejected a plea agreement reached by prosecutors and a woman arrested in what police say was a drive-by shooting in Wahpeton.

Southeast District Judge Richard Grosz says he needs more information on such things as a possible motive before making a decision on the plea deal for 28-year-old Crystal Garcia, who is charged with accomplice to reckless endangerment.

Garcia and 28-year-old Andrew Lopez were arrested in neighboring Breckenridge, Minn., after shots were fired in a Wahpeton mobile home park on July 1. No one was hurt. Lopez is charged with felony reckless endangerment and faces a preliminary hearing next Thursday.

The plea deal for Garcia called for her to plead guilty and be given a suspended one-year jail sentence.
