Name: Paul Black
Hometown: The sprawling metropolitan of Hatton, ND
Been with FM107 since: Since the we first flipped the lights on here…in one way or another…That was a few years ago, wasn't it?
What is your role at FM107?: Traffic and Weather Together Guy on a Balanced Breakfast w/ Ian & Margery.
What do you wish your role was at FM107?: Ya know what would be cool?! I'd love to do this job from the comfort of my own home, maybe take some time off each morning to take my kids to school or something; and it would be really great to be able to do it in my own bedroom! Wouldn't that be great?! But that's just a fantasy, no one would ever be so lucky.
Share a favorite FM107 moment: There are so many stories over the last five plus years, but the one that is most top of my mind is the return of Andrew Zimmern. I worked with AZ back when he was here the last time on Chowhounds. It was so much fun to work with him and the show….and it sadden me greatly when he left….and now's he's back! Although I'm not so sure about that Garbiel guy that Andrew brought with him; he seems kind of shady…..
Share some behind the scenes FM107 gossip: I get asked all time: "How do you do it every morning? Get up at 3am and do a radio show five days a week" Here's the secret: I am fueled by Diet Mountain Dew every morning.
List all of the "hats" you wear in your current life: Dad, Husband, "Daddy", Ian's voice activated post-show hi-lite editor, wearer of great shirts, one of the greatest tire-swing pusher on the planet, videogame king, and the all around kid that won't grownup.
Describe any past fashion fads that you at the time embraced but now regret: I'm not sure "regret" is the right word, but Zubas. On second thought, I wish I still had'em so I could make a purple, yellow, and white zebra pattern shirt out of it…that would be cool!
Name a television character past or present that best describes your personality:I did a quick little survey of everyone here at the station about this question, and the general consensus is that I am most like Jack Bauer from 24. Bruce Willis from the Die Hard movies was a close second. And for some reason, Pee Wee Herman was third.
What's your favorite comfort food?: A diet Mountain Dew….no wait, 2 diet Dews….maybe three…how about a Diet Code Red Mountain Dew? Come to think of it; where's the Diet Pitch Black Mountain Dew….Huh? Where is it? Somebody call Pepsi!
If there was an FM107 reality show who would get kicked out of the house first?: I'm not sure who would get kicked off first, but I know who I would try to get kicked off: Darci. I personally wouldn't last very long, but Darci has the potential to win the whole thing and I can't let that happen.
Do you believe in love at first sight?: Yes. I married her.
First celebrity crush: Loni Anderson on WKRP
Latest celebrity crush: That tall redhead on That 70's Show.
Name another person on this earth you would love to trade places with for a day (and why): Three words: Weird Al Yankovic. Why? Why!? It's Weird Al! One needs not ask why.
Name the last good movie you saw: Grindhouse, no one else seemed to like it, but I loved the 'turn your mind off' and enjoy the zombie shooting/car crash fun of the whole thing.
Name the last good book you read: Politically Correct Bedtime Stories by James Finn Garner. A fun little book that I found at Half Price Books for a buck!!
What TV show(s) are you currently hooked on?: I don't watch a lot of "live" TV…I'm hooked on TV series on DVD. I recently finished the entire series of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Babylon 5. Right now I'm watching Star Trek: The Original Series from the 60's.
