Name: Annette Meeks

Hometown: Troy, Illinois

Been with FM107 since: The Polichicks made their debut (I've always wanted to say that!) on Ian's show in October of 2002.  We began our own show on FM-107 this past January.

What is your role at FM107?: Co- host of "The Polichicks"  -- I'm the conservative.

What do you wish your role was at FM107?: Benevolent Dictator -- is that position open?

Share a favorite FM107 moment: Cathie and I (The Polichicks) used to talk with Ian Punnett every Friday.  Several years ago, we had just left the station when I received word that Senator Paul Wellstone's plane was missing and that the station wanted us back to talk about this great tragedy.  I raced back to the station, only to learn that there were no survivors in the plane crash.  Cathie, Ian and I were on the air for several hours talking about Senator Wellstone, his legacy, and the absolute saddness surrounding his untimely death.  Looking back, it was a profound moment in FM-107's history -- we lived life out loud that day, including one of the most tragic days in recent Minnesota history.  I was honored to be a part of that poignent broadcast.

Share some behind the scenes FM107 gossip: This is like jokes -- I always forget the good stuff!

List all of the "hats" you wear in your current life: I currently serve as the District 7 Representative on the Metropolitan Council;  I am the founder and president of a non-profit, state-based think tank, the Freedom Foundation of Minnesota;  I am a partner in Twin Cities Strategies, a company formed to help with the 2008 Republican National Convention;  and, I do political analysis for KSTP-TV, including their public affairs television show, At Issue.

On a personal level, I am happily married (see question below about love at first sight) and live in a condo in downtown Minneapolis.

Describe any past fashion fads that you at the time embraced but now regret: Gee, it would be easier to mention the ones that passed me by.  Let's face it -- I grew up int he 70's -- the entire decade was a fashion disaster. But the ones that stick in my mind were the awful purple knickers I wore in 7th grade, along with a purple, puffy sleeved blouse -- what was I thinking?  And in later years, I am sincerely sorry that I ever wore one of those paisley little neck bow things during the 80's.  What kind of power message was that supposed to convey?

Name a television character past or present that best describes your personality: How about Mary Richards from The Mary Tyler Moore Show?  I always enjoyed her ability to work with egotists and bullys -- apparently television production isn't too much different that politics.  Yet Mary always remained hopeful and rather happy to be doing something she liked - that's me.

What's your favorite comfort food?: I would use up too much bandwith if I listed them all -- that's just one of the reasons I'm working with L.A. Weight Loss!  Let's just say that chocolate plays a major role in my life.

If there was an FM107 reality show who would get kicked out of the house first?:
Sadly, I would probably be one of the first ones voted off the radio island.  I am pretty blunt and straightforward,  two skills that don't seem to contribute to your longivity in reality-tv world.

Do you believe in love at first sight?:
Absolutely.  I feel in love with my husband the minute I saw him at the Cokato Country Club. Unfortunately it took me 10 years to drag him down the aisle.

First celebrity crush: David Cassidy.  We share the same birthday.  Don't make me say any more.

Latest celebrity crush: George Clooney -- I wish I could say someone more original.

Name another person on this earth you would love to trade places with for a day (and why): If it were just one day, I'd like to be President.  Seriously -- but just for one day.  There are about a dozen things in Washington I would like to take care of -- 24 hours should do the trick.  I would, however, have to get out of town very quickly before they discovered all of my Executive Orders.  Oh, and we would have a State Breakfast, a State Luncheon, and a State Dinner while I was President -- I might as well have a little fun and invite my friends over to the White House during my brief tenure as president.

Name the last good movie you saw: "The Lives of Others".  It received the Oscar for best foreign film this year and it is simply an outstanding film.  All you need to know about this movie is that it starts out in an East German prison and ends in a bookstore -- how's that for a metaphor for freedom?

Name the last good book you read: "America:  The Last Best Hope Volume II" by William J. Bennett.  This book is an excellent view of American history during the past 100 years and reminds us all why this is the greatest country on earth.

What TV show(s) are you currently hooked on?: "American Idol", " The Sopranos" and "America's Test Kitchen."  Oh, and I never miss an episode of "House Hunters."
